Fitter cows producing more milk
Wray Platt, Farm Manager
Gurteen Agricultural College,
Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.
"We invested in PACE to help us make more money from our dairy and beef enterprise. It's improved our feeding accuracy - the animals get the same diet' every day no matter who the operator is, everything is recorded diets and costs - and milk yield has improved by 3-4 litres/cow.
It has been a very difficult year with wet weather, poor growth followed by bursts of growth but the strategic use of Mech-fiber™ buffer diets has helped performance stay up and we are now looking forward to the greater benefits in improved fertility - our cows have never looked better or fitter."

Nearly 100% feeding accuracy "PACE helps us to keep a close eye on the critical issues on our farm, these include feed efficiency (how well we turn feed into milk), feed costs & margins and feeding accuracy. Since investing in PACE our feeding accuracy has improved from around 90-93% to nearly 100% accuracy. There is no over feeding or waste now and when we looked at the figures there has been substantial savings.
The Keenan back up service was the big area for us and that includes both nutrition and veterinary advice. The cows are fitter, stronger and healthier - we've virtually eliminated retained cleanings and milk fever. Milk yields and proteins have stayed steady this year through all the bad weather
2 litres per cow more milk
Gareth Porter
Castlefin, Co Donegal
"Since implementing the PACE system on our farm our cows showed a 2 litre per cow per day improvement in yield over diet feeding alone. We have saved approximately 2 tonnes of TMR per week from improved loading and measuring practices. The PACE system encouraged us to practice a consistent recording routine and has given us a clearer picture of our feeding costs. Our staff say it an easier system to operate, compared to the paper and calculations they previously had to do each morning. I have recommended this new system to neighbouring farmers".

"I invested in PACE to take complete control over feeding, make the whole process more consistent and raise feed efficiency which are all vital with the current milk price situation. Now I'm comfortable with anyone using the feeder and the workers now compare loads against one another and it encourages them to be more accurate".
He's looking forward to other benefits too:
- Improve Dry Cow Nutrition
- Reduce Held Cleanings
- No DA's
- Good visible/strong heats
- Calve down with bigger appetites, easier transition into lactation
- More Milk
